3.2.1 ICCP for Watson Advanced Care Insights
The IBM Advanced Care Insight solution, now called IBM Watson Advanced Care Insight, is an adaptation of the IBM Watson Explorer Content Analytics program designed to process and analyze health care related data.

To use the ICCP program, the model is added to the workload in Figure 3.2:
Figure 3.2: The selection of the Workload for ACI Content Analytics is selected using a right-mouse click
The following steps are now followed to build the ACI Content Analytics model loading:
- Right-mouse click on the expanded ACI Content Analytics of Text Files then select Add to Applied Workload and the Workload menu item.
The parameter window opens to allow the client-estimated volume and size of text file data to be entered as shown in Figure 3.3:
Figure 3.3: The parameter window opens to allow the client-estimated volume and size of text file data to be entered
This opens a parameter window on the right-hand side and creates the Transaction entry in the Applied Work section highlighted on the left-hand side tree navigator.
- Enter 1000 text files of average size 500 Kbytes to be processed per hour, and then click Apply.
- Right- click on the ACI Ingest Text Files (the third function in the list above for ACI) and added this to the Transaction.
The Transaction is added to the existing Workload for ACI Ingest Text Files as illustrated in Figure 3.4:
Figure 3.4: The Transaction is added to the existing Workload for ACI Ingest Text Files
- This creates a new parameter form and adds the Ingestion Transaction to the same node as the Analytics transaction as shown in Figure 3.5:
Figure 3.5: The same values for file volumes and size were added as parameters for the ACI Input Text Files transaction
- Enter the same volumes and average data file size to this model. Next, Add the ACI Predictive Analytics of Text Files to the Transaction node as shown in Figure 3.6:
Figure 3.6: The ACI Predictive Analytics of Text Files Transaction is added to the existing Workload
- This is now set with the volume and size of values, ready for the Hardware to process this Workload, as illustrated in Figure 3.7:
Figure 3.7: The ACI Production Analytics parameters are added with Volume and size values as for the other transactions
- Clicking on Hardware Configuration shows the hardware window pop-up, then the Hardware server is selected from the pop-up window. The Network is added automatically on loading the window.
- Select the Hardware Type as shown in Figure 3.8:
Figure 3.8: The ILG/Solutions Tab is selected and from this the Advanced Care Insight Combined Server option was chosen
- You need to select the ILG/Solutions tab then choose the Advanced Care Insight Combined Server. Then select the Server CPU and click Add to add the hardware, select: IBM xSeries 366 Xeon MP 3.66GHz (Windows) – 4 CPUs. Then click Save and Close.
Clicking on the Network Report shows we have exceeded the threshold recommended throughput limit as illustrated in Figure 3.9:
Figure 3.9: The report on the 100 Mbps Network shows it is above the threshold
The Network selected, needs to be changed for a faster throughput card, so we need to select a higher specification card. A 1 Gbps with 10 times the bandwidth would possibly help (and can be selected using the ICCP tool). As expected, we need a much bigger server. The CPU load suggests at least 8 times the CPU power to get under the 40% recommended threshold. So, we remove the IBM xSeries 366 Xeon MP 3.66GHz (Windows) – 4 CPUs, the 100 MBs Network card, and then added an Ethernet 1Gbps card. The Remove button was used to remove the 100 Mbps network card and then the 1 Gbps Network card was added using the Add button.
An IBM System X 3650 M4 2.7GHz 12-core Xeon E5-2697v2(Windows)24 cores (12 cores/chip) was added. This has 6 times the number of CPU cores. The new server is selected from the drop-down list the Add button is used to add the server to the hardware list, and the window is saved and closed.
The 1Gbps Network Card has resolved the throughput issue on the network as shown in Figure 3.10:
Figure 3.10: The Network demand with 10x the bandwidth is now below the threshold
And the much bigger server CPU brings the load well following Threshold shown in Figure 3.11:
Figure 3.11: The more powerful, 12-core per chip CPU averages just 20%; below the 40% threshold
